Advice for Canadians & Americans | Mexico Real Estate

When it comes to purchasing real estate in Mexico the process of making an offer is very similar to how one makes an offer in the United States or Canada. However, the escrow and title process is different. We therefore encourage you to research this process and to work only with honest, experienced real estate professionals. Due to Mexico’s low standards and requirements for entering the real estate profession there are those who recommend only working with AMPI members -- the highest accreditation available for Mexico real estate professionals. This is probably good advice.

It is worth noting that there is no nationwide MLS service in Mexico at this time. All in all, we strongly recommend only working with the highest quality professionals in all categories of the purchasing process, including brokers/agents, mortgage, legal, financing and title. Although it is quite common these days for foreigners to purchase Mexico real estate we still believe it never hurts to do a little background checking to ensure you are working with highly qualified professionals.
